31" Antique 1904 Scrolling 14 Stations of the Cross Pics, Wood, Bronze, Chalkware Standing Altar Crucifix w/3 Marys below by Koenig Brothers. Measures 31 3/4" tall, 11 1/2" wide and 3 3/4" in depth. Beautifully made by the Koenig Brothers in 1904. Jthe Corpus is a white painted metal which is in excellent condition. The three women are painted chalkware-- and in pretty good condition. Small chips or spots of paint missing on the women. Each named Mary according to John 19:25 were at the foot of the cross during the crucifixion of Jesus: Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary the wife of Clopas (also described as her sister), and Mary Magdalene. The 3 women figurines rest on a small altar. It has two knobs on the the right side that turn to move the pictures up or down. There is a piece of frame missing surrounding the pictures. Inside are 14 scrolling colorful pictures of each Station of the Cross. As shown in the video, the scrolling works smoothly whether scrolling up or down. Some pictures are faded and some of spots on them. Also, starting at picture No. 5, the pictures are cocked at a slight angle. This could be fixed if the front glass panel is removed so the scroll can be repositioned inside. At the bottom of the last picture it states, Copyright 1904 Koenig Brothers. The front has four antiqued bronze metal corners. Please take time to look at the pictures to admire the magnificent workmanship of this special Altar Crucifix. There is some wear as shown in the pictures but with no damage or repairs that I can tell. Please see pictures for details and condition.
