Vieux Paris Porcelain Holy Water Font of John and Virgin Mary, Mother of God

Vieux Paris Porcelain Holy Water Font of John and Virgin Mary, Mother of God. It measures 6" tall and 4 1/2" wide. Made from porcelain ceramic in early Paris. Hand painted and gilded accents. It is an image of John consoling Mary, Mother of God, when she was standing at the foot of the cross. John and Mary are bisque and the bottom is glazed ceramic. The shell for the font measures 1 1/2" deep and 2 5/8" wide. There is some wear to some of the gilding but there are no chips, cracks or repairs. There is no maker's mark, but there is the #40 written in green on the inside of the bottom. Beautiful, historical piece.
